“Something's Gone” produced and composed by Mezraa, touches on the subject of transition. It speaks of a crossroads moment in the narrator’s life, and all the indecisions that come with it. The song goes on to say how the acquiring of drugs, sex and material objects fail to keep the questioning self at bay, and how abusing of those only does to add to the feeling of emptiness, isolation, and obsession that this period of reflection brings. The lyrical approach taken in this song by rapper, and Montreal’s own, Kris the $pirit also does to blend in with its musical and sonic themes. And it matches the song’s haunting melodies and gritty percussion grooves, engineered and constructed by Mezraa.
